An internal hackathon project that reimagines cycling motivation through play. Wahoogotchi blends endurance culture with the charm of digital pets to turn training into something more fun, personal, and a little weird in the best way.
Cycling apps are great at numbers. They tell you your watts, splits, zones, and whether you blew up on that last climb. But they rarely make riding fun. I wanted to explore what happens when you strip away the seriousness and bring some joy back into it.
So I submitted Wahoogotchi for the 2025 hackathon, a Tamagotchi-inspired digital companion that grows, reacts, and evolves based on your real rides.
This project also gave me a chance to experiment with AI-generated graphics and voiceovers. Here's a breakdown of AI tools used:
Once all the assets are in place, I used Adobe Premiere Pro to stitch them together and add the final touches. This was the step that took much, much longer than I'd like to admit... kudos to all video editors out there who do this for a living. I see you. You're amazing.
